For sale is this 1967 SS 350 Camaro Rally Sport that is being offered by the person who has owned the car since 1977. I am posting this for the owner who is a friend of mine who also lives in the Phoenix area.

The owner bought the car in Anderson, Indiana in 1977. The original Sierra Fawn paint had been resprayed in Tuxedo Black by the time he bought the car. He then moved to Phoenix in 1981. The Camaro was last registered in Arizona in the early 1990’s, so it hasn’t been on the road in 30 years. The owner stripped the car down with the intention of doing a restoration and bought new GM NOS quarter panels, outer wheel wells, trunk pan, and other new and NOS parts decades ago. All these parts will go with the car.

I took pictures of many of the pieces that were removed from the car. The NOS quarter panels are still in the unopened GM boxes (pictures attached) that he purchased decades ago.

The original 350 engine is long gone and there isn’t a replacement engine to go with the car. The factory wheels were already gone when the owner bought the car in 1977. Everything else is there and has been wrapped and stored for decades. We unwrapped most of the items to take the pictures. Here is a quick rundown of what is included in the purchase:

-GM NOS quarter panels and NOS outer wheel wells.
-M20 Muncie transmission (wide ratio) with factory bellhousing
-12 bolt posi rear end with 4.10 gears
-Power steering and power drum brakes
-Nice SS hood with excellent original finned inserts
-Rally Sport specific fenders with fender wells, all in good condition
-Deluxe front buckets, rear seat, and door panels. The front seats have splits in the seating surfaces and will need to be re-covered.
-Deluxe door panels and rear seat side panels.
-Console with gauge package
-Speedo and tach (5,500 rpm redline) cluster is in very nice condition
-Factory 3-spoke steering wheel with original SS 350 center bezel
-Complete Rally Sport hide-away headlights grill with all the pieces including motors (one of the motors needs to be rebuilt)
-Original bumpers including “bumperettes” on the front bumper
-All stainless moldings and emblems original to the car that are in remarkably good condition
-Original front header panel, RS lower valence panel, and the cowl vent panel between the hood and the windshield.
-All wiring harnesses, switches, fuse block, etc.
-Lots more, too much to mention but see pictures and there is still more that we didn’t capture in pictures. To reiterate, EVERYTHING that came on the car when new is included, except for the engine and wheels as mentioned previously.

Granted, this car is going to require a lot of work to return it to its former glory. But it is a special Camaro built in the first few months of production (November 1966) in the very first year of Camaro production. And since the 396 was a mid/late model year introduction, the SS 350 was the top dog Camaro when this car was built. So it is a car that deserves to be resurrected and enjoyed. Add to the mix that it’s also the very desirable Rally Sport package as well as a factory Muncie 4-speed car, and you have a unique classic that should appreciate well in the years to come. When is the last time you saw an original ’67 SS 350 car?

Side note: Jim McFarland authored a 4-part series in Hot Rod magazine on the ’67 SS 350 Camaro when it first came out. It’s quite an entertaining and informative series on the new Camaro in general and the SS 350 in particular. Of course they hot rodded it and took it to the dragstrip! I’m sure you can find it online if you’re interested – fun reading.

OK, that’s the good, let’s address the bad. This Camaro will need the following work:

-Both quarter panels need to be replaced as well as the outer and possibly inner wheel wells. As listed above, GM NOS quarter panels are included in the asking price. Have you priced a set of them lately? Expect to pay about $2,000 apiece. Also included are outer NOS GM wheel wells.

-The trunk pan needs to be replaced as well as the driver side shock mount area pieces. A replacement trunk pan is included as well as both the driver and passenger side shock mount pieces although all three pieces are aftermarket items.

-The front section of the driver side floorboard will need to be replaced as well as the toe well area. The passenger side floorboard may also need to be replaced but it’s difficult to assess until it gets cleaned up.

-The roof has several dented areas, especially on the passenger side. It may be more economical to just install a replacement roof panel than to have a body guy repair the existing dents.

-The passenger rocker panel has a large dent (see pic). This is probably another instance where it might make more sense to install a replacement piece than to try to repair the existing rocker panel.

-As mentioned earlier, the original 350 engine is gone. 1967 was the first year of the 350 SBC and it was offered exclusively in the Camaro to help boost first year sales (even the flagship Corvette still used the 327). The ’67 350 was a unique engine – while it did come with larger 2.45” main bearings and 2.10” rod bearings (a 350 engine exclusive – 283, 302, and 327 engines still used the smaller journals), it was only available with 2-bolt main bearing caps that year. Same for the 1968 350 engine. It wasn’t until 1969 that Chevy offered 4-bolt mains in the 350 (or any SBC for that matter). If you are really determined, you could hunt down a ’67 350 block but it would be a lot easier to find a superior ’69 and up block that had 4-bolt mains. I have a friend who has a large stash of ’69-’72 350 4-bolt blocks, so we would be able to find a suitable block and heads for you if you’re so inclined. He’s been machining and building SBC’s for 45 years in case you decide to go that route.

One more thing if you’re interested – I have completely decoded the cowl tag thanks to the informative website of the Camaro Research Group. Let me know if you’d like me to email you the Word document of the decoding.

Please email me if you have any “serious” questions or would like to schedule a time to see the car. Sorry, but due to the volume of people asking “Is this still available” and the associated scams, I will not respond to that question. IF THE POSTING IS STILL UP, THE CAR IS STILL FOR SALE! Also, I took over 100 pictures and of course can’t post them all, so just ask if you’d like to see more pictures of any particular area or parts.

Clean title in hand. The car is stored in the Glendale area.

Thank you for your consideration…. Spence
