Darkness.. Not even a single ray of light . She tried to pierce the darkness with her gaze , but to no avail . She finally was able to feel her numb legs , and gathered the strength to stand up . As she was trying to maintain her balance to keep herself from falling down, her eyes caught something ahead. A ray of light was seeping through what initially seemed to be part of the wall, but she now came to understand, was a door. She then took careful steps towards it, as she could barely see what was in front of her, and her legs were still sort of numb.
She then ran the fingertips of her right hand along the wall, until she could feel the doorframe and then the doorknob, and twisted it open.
It took her a moment to adjust to the lighting of this room. Only, it wasn’t a room. It was an indoor garden with fresh and beautiful flowers and other sorts of ornamental plants. Beautiful, she thought to herself, mesmerised by the visuals. She looked around, trying to take in the décor of her new environment. It had five walls. Unique, she thought to herself, as she was used to seeing buildings or structures in general with only four. She then noticed that there were not only plants in this garden. Relics and precious jewels were being held up by golden stands at each corner, and five paintings hanging from the five walls of the garden. But there was something peculiar about each. They were all missing a part of their bodies. One was missing its eyes, one was missing its skin, one was missing its ears, one was missing its nose. The last one was missing nothing, at least nothing she could see. It looked a bit too normal. She began to step forward towards the supposedly ‘normal’ painting. Then, she stretched her left hand towards it, trying to touch it.
“I would not touch that”, a female voice said from behind her. She immediately spun around in surprise, as she wasn’t really expecting to see or hear any other person in this serene environment besides herself. Tending to a bright sunflower was a slender woman with midnight black hair, but she could only see the woman’s profile. “Wh… who are you?” she stuttered a bit, because she had not yet recovered from the initial shock. The lady in question turned around and met her gaze. Her skin was really pale, and she had a small scar under her left eye, which had no effect on her beauty at all, but was outstanding enough to notice. When she saw the woman’s face, she was a bit confused, because she looked very familiar, but she could swear she had never seen the woman in her life.
“You really can’t recognize me? Frankly speaking, I am a bit hurt. I know I look a lot younger, but certainly, you recognize me, Azura '' the woman said to her. Only one person calls me by that name, she thought to herself. Grandma. Her eyes instantly shot at the woman. “No… nonna?” she asked, a bit hesitant. Then the woman smiled at her and she came to the conclusion that that woman was her grandma. Feeling tears well up behind her eyes, she took hesitant steps towards the woman. Then, she hastened up and gave her a big hug. The woman patted her head soothingly as she sobbed with her head buried in the crook of the woman’s neck. She then pulled back and held her shoulders after about two minutes of sobbing. “But how is this even possible?” she asked, still sniffing. “You made it possible, Sam,” the woman said. She was a bit confused, as she did not know what the woman meant. “What do you mean by that?” she asked the woman.
“I have been trying to reach you for a while now, but the only reason why this is possible is because you keep thinking about me. This is a dream, dear… I am only borrowing it, '' she said with a smile. “Borrowing it? How? And for what?” Sam asked, as sshe was very inquisitive in nature. The woman’s expression changed almost immediately. “Come with me, I have to show you something” the woman said, as she dragged her towards a certain item suspended in the garden. The woman then stretched forth her hands as she got to the item. To Sam’s greatest surprise, the item began to float towards the woman. She then opened the golden jar and held it close to Sam. “Look at this and tell me what you see,” the woman said to her. Sam looked at the woman, and then at the item in the woman’s hand. “All I see is an empty golden bowl,” “Well, look again”. She took a closer look, and to her utmost surprise, she saw two distinctive different colours of entities, revolving around a golden pole. One of the entities was black, while the other was white. But the white was significantly smaller than the black one.
“If there is one thing I learnt while alive was the fact that everything that exists hangs on a fragile, yet necessary balance which, under no circ*mstances should be tampered with. And that has been the case since the beginning of this world. Well, until now. Something extremely wicked roams around you people. I have been trying to fight it while I was alive, but to no avail, and it has to be controlled before it engulfs the remaining good in the world and causes chaos to every realm as we know it. But for some reason, I cannot seem to remember what it was, but I just know it is so bad that it requires me to warn you people. Unfortunately, I-” she was cut short by a low rumbling sound. The ground beneath them began to shake violently. “The elders,” the woman whispered in obvious fright. “What is going on?” she asked the woman. “The elders have found me. We are not supposed to be communicating with you people. Come” the woman said, as she dragged her hand towards a small door that she hadn’t noticed earlier. “If they meet you here, you will die”.
The vines on the walls and the flowers began to die. The woman got the door, opened and motioned for her to pass through. Before she closed the door, the woman handed her something. “I don’t know for certain why, but I feel this should help you, so take it”. She looked into her hand to see what the woman had put in there. It was a black diamond, about the size of her thumbnail. Then, the woman began to close the door, and Sam held her hand. “What about you? You will also die if they meet you here”. The woman smiled at her. “Sweetie… I am already dead, remember?”
